To inform Sri Lanka’s policymakers at the national level on agri-food trade in the country, Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka in collaboration with PRCI conducted a dissemination workshop on Nov 15, 2021. The focus of the workshop was on the current situation, main challenges, new potentials, and prospects of the agri-food trade in Sri Lanka. The participants included agri-food trade and policy experts in Sri Lanka from government organizations, development institutions, private firms engaged in the agriculture and food business, research and development institutions and think tanks, and other individuals and organizations interested and/or engaged in agriculture and natural resources. The workshop also provided an opportunity for discussion among researchers, representatives from the ministries, development partners, experts from IFPRI, and participants from other countries on promotion of market diversification, trade facilitation measures, COVID-19 recovery strategies, and other relevant topics. The policy recommendations which emerged from the workshop will also be channelized among relevant government ministries and allied institutes such as the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Trade, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of Export Agriculture.
