At the request of the African Union/United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Land Policy Initiative, IFPRI developed a framework for Monitoring and Evaluation of Land Governance in Africa (MELA). IFPRI worked with each pilot country to build their capacity to conduct Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) on land governance, in each of four results areas. By aligning key indicators under MELA with the SDG indicators on land (notably 1.4.2 and 5.a.2), capacity was built to collect SDG indicators. As part of this process, Hosaena Hagos conducted a training on Methodologies, tools and framework for Monitoring and Evaluation of Land Governance in Africa - Kigali, Rwanda which brought together officials from the Land Ministry, other government ministries, the national statistical organization, universities, and civil society to initiate the M&E process. The training was conducted in July 2018 and had 17 male and 15 female participants. For more information click here.
