USAID conducted a webinar on 'Implementing Nationally determined contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs)' held on February 9, 2022. Panelists from IFPRI, World Resources Institute (WRI) and AKADEYMIA2063 highlighted the need for technical assistance, policy coherence, multi-stakeholder engagement, and financial resources for effective implementation of country NDCs and NAPs. There was also a discussion on USAID initiatives like the Comprehensive African Climate Change Initiative (CACCI) and the Innovation Lab for Food Security Policy, Research, Capacity and Influence (PRCI) which aim to support partner countries in African and Asian to implement their NDC and NAP commitments.
Suresh Babu (Senior Research Fellow, IPRI) was a panelist at the webinar and presented ‘Evidence-driven Partnerships to Accelerate Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in Asian Food Systems’. The presentation discussed the current challenges and needs in adoption of climate change adaptation and mitigation (A&M) strategies with specific focus on Asian food systems. Potential PRCI approaches to A&M to strengthen Asian food systems were also discussed.
