In February 2022, PRCI and Kasetsart University (KU) conducted a Southeast Asia workshop on Value Chain Analysis as a basis for developing cassava value chain analysis proposals by participating partner institutions. The objective of the workshop was to provide an overview of value chain analysis concepts and current research gaps in the SEA region. This was the first workshop as part of a workshop series on value chain analysis which aims to support USAID funded Innovation Lab for Food Security Policy Research, Capacity and Influence (PRCI) country partners to conduct value chain analysis studies.
As a follow up, a second workshop on ‘Research methods for value chain analysis’ was conducted March 16, 2022. It focused on various aspects of value chain analysis research including scoping research, sample design, survey questionnaire structure, pre-testing, enumerator training, survey implementation, and quantitative data analysis.
A third workshop conducted in May focused on how and why gender analysis should be incorporated into value chain studies. This training led participants through why gender is an important topic in value chain studies, shared resources, techniques, and tools for including gender in value chain analysis, and explained how pro-WEAI can be used on market inclusion.
