- Provide analytical support and evidence-based recommendations for the new Agricultural Development Strategy for the period until 2030
IFPRI is a key partner organization for USAID-funded Republic of Tajikistan NDC Partnership Support through CACCI-Asia. Suresh Babu (Senior Research Fellow, IFPRI) travelled to Tajikistan between July 3 to August 6, 2022 to initiate the project activities and introduce the newly hired in-country facilitator, Sino Tohirzoda, to the development partners and launch the NDC Secretariat at the CEP. During his trip, he participated in USAID Mission meetings to discuss the agenda for the inception workshop (held on August 5, 2022). As part of preparation for the inception workshop, meetings were held with key NDC partners to understand their NDC related activities. On August 4, 2022 NDC Partnership organized a monthly review meeting with the CEP and key partners. Partners including USAID updated their recent activities in Tajikistan and shared information on the upcoming activities. Several rounds of meetings were held with the CEP under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and Hydromet colleagues to discuss the setting up of the NDC Secretariat and its functions.
An inception workshop was organized by the CEP in cooperation with the USAID Mission to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and its technical partner, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) on August 5, 2022. The workshop introduced the structure of NDC Secretariat and its role in implementation of the NDC in the Republic of Tajikistan to key stakeholders including government officials, development partners, and donor organizations. During the workshop, feedback was received from stakeholders on developing specific activities to strengthen their support for NDC implementation. For more information on the workshop, click here.
Several activities are currently underway including mapping of the policy system, partners, institutions, resources, and stakeholders involved in NDC implementation in Tajikistan and preparation for hosting a side event in the Tajikistan Pavilion at COP27 in Nov 2022.
