As part of their commitment to addressing climate change challenges, Asian countries submitted their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and have developed National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) that identify strategies to meet their NDC commitments. Recent efforts such as the New Climate Change Strategy of the USAID and President Biden’s President's Emergency Plan for Adaptation and Resilience (PREPARE) initiative give opportunities for the US Government to work with Asian countries to speed up the implementation process of NDC implementation. USAID is supporting several Asian countries in translating their commitments into specific activities through the Comprehensive Action for Climate Change Initiative in Asia (CACCI-Asia).
In this regard, at COP27, the Tajikistan Pavilion will host a side event ‘NDC Implementation in Asia: South-South Learning and Launching of CACCI-Asia’ on Nov 11 at 10:00-11:00 am, local time. The event will showcase the CACCI approach for NDC implementation in Tajikistan as well as highlight related potential regional support to the country through Climate Change and Resilience in Central Asia (CAREC) and neighboring countries. Climate change leaders from Cambodia, Laos, Nepal, Tajikistan, and Vietnam will discuss the current status of NDC implementation and share knowledge for moving forward.
