Under the USAID funded PRCI project, Kasetsart University, Thailand, conducted a three part workshop on 'International trade flow analysis training using R' in Oct-Nov 2022. The workshop topic was chosen based on the growing need for analyzing trade data sets by researchers and policymakers to better understand trade flows with other countries and create effective policies.
Statistical software such as R is widely used for trade flow analysis research. This workshop provided a foundation for conducting trade flow analysis using R. The training had topics on basic R programing, data wrangling, data visualization and data analysis. Technical topics on how to use R to analyze international trade, including fundamental trade flow analysis, trade flow indicator, were also covered.
The workshop participants included researchers, policy analysts, and Masters and Ph.D.
students focusing on trade policy and related issues.
