Since 2018, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Korea, has been promoting overseas internship programme (OASIS) to provide young Koreans with internship opportunities. Korea FAO Association (KFA) supports the dispatch of interns to international organizations such as FAO, IFAD, IFPRI and overseas companies and research institutes by utilizing existing networks and expertise. KFA has collaborated with IFPRI on 'IFPRI-OASIS internship program'. The partnership is now in its sixth year.
Through a rigorous selection process with support from Dr. Suresh Babu (Senior Research Fellow, IFPRI), young individuals have been participating in the programme. They intern in different IFPRI divisions and work with an IFPRI researcher who is assigned as their mentor. Even though
international travels were restricted during the pandemic, the collaboration provided the interns with fruitful internship experiences in a remote modality.
The next set of internship assignments are expected to be initiated from late June 2023.
