Creating opportunities for youth is a necessary and important strategy to optimally harness the
existing demographic dividend. Since agriculture sector continues to be an important resource in
many developing countries, it is an important pathway to create employment opportunities for youth. The presence of a strong entrepreneurship ecosystem in the agribusiness sector can incentivize youth to consider participating in the sector.
Currently, rural youth have limited access to many of the ingredients of agricultural success. These include land, credit, farm inputs, agronomic and vocational training, insurance, and lucrative markets. Revitalizing rural economies requires empowerment of youth in agricultural enterprises. The multi-country comparative study reports developed by SFSA and IFPRI aims to identify the policy, institutional and technological requirements in Bangladesh, Indonesia, India, and Nigeria.
