A follow on activity is being conducted to the The Feed the Future Nigeria Agriculture Policy Activity (FtF-NAPA) which was implemented by International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and Michigan State University (MSU) between February 1, 2021, and November 30, 2022, This activity is building on the successes and achievements of the previous activities, while incorporating lessons learned from previous work. It is supporting the Government of Nigeria with evidence-based research, policy support, and capacity strengthening to achieve its strategic development goals in agricultural development, poverty reduction, and food and nutrition security as envisioned in the new national agriculture policy – National Agricultural Technology and Innovation Policy (NATIP, 2022-2027). IFPRI – Nigeria is currently providing capacity strengthening support to academic and research institutions in Nigeria under FtF-NAPA.
In this regard, a training was conducted in March 2023 with the aim to equip policy actors particularly policy analysts in Nigeria institutions with adequate skills to manage, analyze, and report findings from various types of economic data, especially large survey datasets using econometrics and statistical software - STATA. There were 14 male and 11 female participants. It is expected that this training course would enhance the capacity of participants to undertake evidence-based research that would generate relevant policy briefs and other outputs. Skills learned are expected to be transferred to undergraduate and graduate students while improving the staff’s analytical skills.
