In 2023, the following visiting fellows conducted research studies under the mentorship of IFPRI Fellows in the DSG unit.
Dr. Venkatesh Palani Samy is a Visiting Fellow in the DSG Unit. He is affiliated with Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) in New Delhi, India. He conducted research at IFPRI through the Uma Lele Mentor Fellowship. With the mentorship of Dr. Suresh Babu, he co-authored a paper titled "Examining Women's Empowerment's Influence on Nutrition Outcomes in Family Members across Rural-Urban and Wealth Divides in Uttar Pradesh, India". This collaborative work was presented at the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Annual Meeting 2023 held in Washington, D.C., USA.
Dr. Balaji Sedithippa Janarthanan is a Visiting Fellow in the DSG Unit. He is affiliated with the National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NIAP), New Delhi, India and was a Fulbright Postdoc Fellow at the Department of Agricultural & Applied Economics, University of Georgia. His recent research work at IFPRI involved studying climate governance and institutional interventions in addressing climate change impacts for farmers.
Dr. N. Kiruthika is a Visiting Fellow in the DSG Unit. She is affiliated with the Department of Agricultural Economics, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, India. At IFPRI, she is currently pursuing research on production - trade – self-sufficiency – nutrition nexus for cereals and pulses of India and Sri Lanka. She is also analyzing the trade policy process in India from a regional perspective.
