In Jan 2024, Joanna van Asselt, Moe Sabai, Ying Kham Synt organized a hybrid workshop on 'Migration data of Myanmar: How to understand, use, and access datasets and integrate in policy design' for students from Mahidol University, Asian Institute of Technology, Chiang Mai University, and Kasetsart University.
The training had 56 female and 15 male participants. The training updated students on research findings on migration in Myanmar from the Myanmar Household Welfare survey and the Myanmar Migration Assessment. Different datasets that The Feed the Future Myanmar Agriculture Policy Support Activity (MAPSA) makes publicly available were shared. The students are enthusiastic about utilizing the data for their master's theses. Through the training, they've acquired the skills to download and analyze the data, as well as to formulate thoughtful research questions based on it. Additionally, they've gained insights into how the data is currently utilized, empowering them to generate unique and innovative research inquiries. To access the training material, click here.
