The vision and mission of IFPRI’s Capacity Strengthening Strategy 2016-2018 is derived from and supports the institute’s overall vision, mission, and strategy, which guide IFPRI research.
Vision
To have capable policy research organizations, individuals, institutions, and policy systems contributing to the achievement of a world free of hunger and malnutrition.
Mission
To build the capacity of organizations and individuals for policy research, analysis, design, and implementation in an effort to improve food policy in developing countries for improved food security and poverty reduction.
Strategic Objectives
- To provide research-based knowledge on the role, constraints, and mechanisms of capacity strengthening in food policy research, analysis, advocacy, education, and strategy development and implementation
- To design and implement capacity strengthening activities within IFPRI’s research divisions, CRPs, regional and country programs, and collaborating organizations to increase the impact of IFPRI’s research on the ground
- To develop the capacity of individuals, organizations, and policy systems through national, regional, and global collaborations so that they can effectively address food policy issues through research, analysis, communication, institutional transformation, and organizational management
