IFPRI staff conducted several capacity strengthening activities in Bangladesh in 2018. A brief description of these activities is provided below:
- IFPRI, with technical guidance of the DG Food and Project Management Unit (PMU) of Modern Food Storage Facilities Project (MFSP) conceptualized an in-country training workshop for mid-level government officials of Ministry of Food (MoF), Directorate General of Food (DG Food) and Directorate General of Food Planning and Monitoring Unit (DG FPMU). The major objective of the training program was to instill a better understanding of broad conceptual and theoretical issues related to food and agricultural policies in the global and country contexts. The training provided the participants with conceptual foundations and generated intellectual curiosity, necessary for critical thinking and participation in policy discussions. The technical skills imparted to the participants enabled them to engage in discussions on policy rationales and consequences in an informed way. The training was completed through three workshops over the year and resulted in use of research/analysis in policymaking/program development/interventions. For more information, click here.
